Today, UNFICYP's Force Commander, Major General Ingrid Gjerde met representatives of “The Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation” and “The Friends of the Nicosia Children’s Home” at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia to deliver funds raised during the Mission's end of year charity cake and crafts stall event held on 14 December 2022. 

During the event, they raised €1400, which was equally distributed to two organizations. Major General Gjerde stated during the meeting with the representatives that: "I am grateful for the initiative to raise funds at our Mission's end of year event, to support organisations working to support children with special needs, including cancer."

On 14 December last year, peacekeepers from different nationalities serving under the UN flag, brought together traditional food dishes and crafts, which sold to raise funds to organisations working on both sides of the island who are supporting over 100 children receiving treatment for cancer and also children and adolescents living in shelthers in Nicosia.
