  • 04 Oct 2017 - Nicosia, 4 October 2017 – At 10:50 am this morning, an UNFICYP vehicle carrying humanitarian supplies departed Nicosia for Greek Cypriot communities in the Karpas, as has been regular practice for close to four decades. UNFICYP was obliged to limit today’s delivery to medical aid supplies, following the Turkish Cypriot administration’s unilateral decision to impose taxes and fees on other humanitarian goods. 
  • 27 Jul 2017 -  The Security Council today renewed the mandate of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for six months today, while asking the Secretary-General to conduct a strategic review of the mission.
  • 29 Jun 2017 - NICOSIA, 29 June 2017 - On 29 June, a CMP excavation team located the remains of at least one individual in a military area in Deryneia/Derinya. The CMP’s bi-communal excavation teams are continuing excavations at Voni/Gökhan, Bogazi/Boğaz and Kontemenos/ Kılıçarslan which are within military areas, and at Kioneli/Gönyeli, Agia Irini/Akdeniz, Galateia/Mehmetçik, Neo Chorio Kythreas/Minereliköy and Mari/Tatlısu village at Larnaka District.

  • 12 May 2017 - New York, 11 May 2017 - From 24 April to 5 May, two Cypriot researchers and the 3rd Member of the CMP searched confidential and publicly accessible United Nations archives from the 1963/4 and 1974 periods for information that could aid the discovery of possible burial sites of missing persons. Their effort yielded documents that will now be analysed by CMP investigators. A further visit will be required to complete the review of relevant archive holdings in New York.

  • 01 Apr 2017 - NICOSIA, 31 March 2017 - The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) wishes to express its sincere thanks to the United Kingdom for its donation of EUR 124,000 made today by H.E. Mr. Matthew Kidd, British High Commissioner to Cyprus, during a visit to the CMP Anthropological Laboratory. This brings direct British financial assistance to the CMP to a total of EUR 297,000 over the past ten years.

    NICOSIA, 29 March 2017 - The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) wishes to express its sincere thanks to Turkey for its donation of 92,000 EUR made today. This donation brings the Turkish financial assistance to the CMP to a total of EUR 826,000 over the past ten years.
