  • 27 Feb 2018 - Nicosia, 27 February 2018 – The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix arrives in Cyprus tomorrow for a two day visit to the island. Mr Lacroix will meet with Government officials, local authorities and community representatives.
  • 01 Dec 2017 - NEW YORK, 1 December 2017 - The world is well on its way to meeting the target of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. Nearly 21 million people living with HIV now have access to treatment – a number that should grow to more than 30 million by 2020. AIDS-related deaths and new HIV infections are declining. There is great hope that the world can deliver on its promise – but much more needs to be done.
  • 30 Nov 2017 - NICOSIA, 29 November 2017 - On the occasion of the Mawlid-al Nabi - a special pilgrimage to Hala Sultan Tekke took place today, on the 29th of November. Mufti of Cyprus, H.E Dr Talip Atalay led prayers at noon for 950 faithful of Turkish origin that cannot otherwise cross the buffer zone in the divided island of Cyprus.
  • 28 Nov 2017 - NICOSIA, 28 November 2017 - The 'Imagine' programme that runs under the auspices of the Technical Committee on Education and implemented by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) and the Home for Cooperation (H4C) with the support of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, continues this school year after succesfully completing the pilot phase in 2016-2017 school year.
  • 16 Nov 2017 - NICOSIA, 16 November 2017 - A High-Level meeting of the Religious Track of the Cyprus Peace Process (RTCYPP) took place on 16 November 2017, coinciding with the 22nd Anniversary of the International Day of Tolerance. The meeting was hosted by the Ambassador of Sweden to Cyprus, H.E Anna Olsson Vrang, at her residence in Nicosia.
  • 01 Nov 2017 - Nicosia, 1 November 2017 – As mandated by the Security Council in its resolution 2369 (2017), a team from United Nations headquarters will visit Cyprus from 2 to 7 November 2017 to conduct a strategic review of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNIFCYP).  The team will conduct a rigorous evidence-based assessment of the impact of UNFICYP activities, in order to develop recommendations on how the Mission can be optimally configured to implement its existing mandate.
  • 27 Oct 2017 - Nicosia, 27 October 2017 – Big Game Hunting Season starts on 5th of November. UNFICYP would like to remind hunters that hunting in the buffer zone is strictly prohibited. Entering the buffer zone area in order to perform any kind of hunting activities, including, but not limited to, those contemplating the use of weapons and/or dogs, runs the risk of drawing fire from either of the opposing forces, and is therefore dangerous and irresponsible.

  • 04 Oct 2017 - Nicosia, 4 October 2017 – At 10:50 am this morning, an UNFICYP vehicle carrying humanitarian supplies departed Nicosia for Greek Cypriot communities in the Karpas, as has been regular practice for close to four decades. UNFICYP was obliged to limit today’s delivery to medical aid supplies, following the Turkish Cypriot administration’s unilateral decision to impose taxes and fees on other humanitarian goods. 
  • 27 Jul 2017 -  The Security Council today renewed the mandate of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) for six months today, while asking the Secretary-General to conduct a strategic review of the mission.
