NICOSIA, 27 March 2017 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) in Cyprus and UNFICYP Head of Mission, Ms. Elizabeth Spehar, and a number of UNFICYP personnel met with members of the Bi-Communal Initiative for Peace-UNITED CYPRUS at Mission HQ in the buffer zone on 27 March 2017.

The SRSG engaged in a lively discussion with representatives of the initiative - which comprises dozens of organizations - who expressed their hopes and concerns for the future of Cyprus. The SRSG encouraged them to continue their important work, underscoring the importance of civil society in contributing to promoting dialogue and building trust across the island.
