Pyla, 24 March 2017 - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) in Cyprus and Head of UNFICYP, Ms. Elizabeth Spehar, and UNFICYP Force Commander Major General Mohammad Humayun Kabir visited Pyla today, where they had an opportunity to meet with the Greek Cypriot Mukhtar, Mr. Simon Mitides, and the Turkish Cypriot Mukhtar, Mr. Nejdet Enver Ermetal.

They discussed the unique features of the bi-communal village of Pyla, including the opportunities and challenges for those living there, and its potential to serve as an example for the rest of the island. The SRSG commended both Mukhtars for their dedication to bringing about greater interaction and trust in the village.
