Nicosia, 10th April 2020 – The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) confirms the first case of the coronavirus amongst its peacekeeping personnel today.
At a recent townhall meeting, Secretary-General António Guterres paid tribute to UN healthcare personnel who are working to ensure the well-being of UN personnel during the COVID-19 crisis.
The new coronavirus CANNOT be transmitted through mosquito bites. To date there has been no information nor evidence to suggest that the new coronavirus could be transmitted by mosquitoes.
