The Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) wishes to express its sincere thanks to the Federal Republic of Germany for its donation of EUR 100,000 made today. This brings the German financial assistance to the CMP to a total of EUR 400,000 over the past ten years.

The Security Council today formally chose the former Prime Minister of Portugal, António Guterres, as its nominee to be the next Secretary-General of the United Nations for a five-year term when incumbent Ban Ki-moon steps down on 31 December.
