Farming in the Buffer Zone
Farmer seeking to cultivate land they own or lease in the buffer zone need permission from UNFICYP.
The Sector Civil Affairs Teams (SCAT) deployed throughout the buffer zone administer the Farming Permit scheme.
A Farming Permit is usually valid for one year. The related Job Permits for workers accessing the plots are usually valid for six months.
Farming and Job Permits
Download the Permit Application Form listed below.
Submit the following documentation to the applicable SCAT office:
the completed Permit Application Form
the plot title deed or officially authorized lease agreement between the farmer and the landowner
topographical maps indicating the location of the plot
The SCAT office will notify you of its decision within a reasonable time period.
Job Permits Only
The application for a Job Permit is part of the Permit Application Form.
If you only need to apply for a new Job Permit to work on a plot for which the Farming Permit is still valid, you must submit a copy of the current and valid Farming Permit for that plot.
In that case, download the Permit Application Form below and submit the completed Job Permit application sheet with a copy of the valid Farming Permit to the applicable SCAT office.
