Apply here by 19 February to join us.
About the programme:
Peacebuilding in Divided Societies is a youth and gender focused programme that aims to empower young people in Cyprus to engage meaningfully in peace and trust building between the communities, through dialogue and inclusive civic engagement.
Launched in 2021, the programme responds to the need for greater participation of women and youth — particularly young women — in peace processes, in line with the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas.
The 2026 iteration of the programme will start with a two-day in-person workshop at Ledra Palace Hotel on Saturday, 28 February and Sunday, 1 March from 10:00 to 16:00 and is available to people aged 18 to 30 years old.
The workshop emphasises experiential learning and active participation, encouraging young people to critically reflect on their own perspectives while engaging with those of others.
Key thematic areas include:
- Peacebuilding and civic engagement
- Identity, and stereotypes
- Gender equality, inclusion, and intersectionality
- Intercommunal dialogue and trust-building
- Peace and (in)security
- Intercommunal collaboration for problem solving
In addition to the main workshops, the programme includes follow-up sessions throughout the year, allowing participants and alumni to deepen their understanding of specific peacebuilding themes and remain connected as part of an active network of young peacebuilders.
Why participate?
- By joining the Peacebuilding in Divided Societies Programme, participants will:
- Gain practical skills in dialogue, communication, and inclusive peacebuilding
- Engage in meaningful intercommunal exchange and build lasting connections
- Develop a deeper understanding of gender, inclusion, and diversity in peace processes
- Become part of a growing alumni network committed to positive social change
Participants are encouraged to continue applying their learning beyond the workshops, through follow-up activities, collaboration, and sustained engagement in peacebuilding initiatives.
Who can apply?
The programme is open to young people aged 18-30 from all communities living in Cyprus. We are committed to fostering gender diversity and equal representation among youth from all communities living in Cyprus. No prior experience is required, and we place particular emphasis on engaging participants with limited opportunities for intercommunal dialogue. The programme will be delivered in English.
