On 26 April 2016, UNFICYP made its regular delivery of humanitarian supplies from the Republic of Cyprus to the Maronite communities of Kormakitis and neighbouring villages.
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus, Ms. Lisa Buttenheim, on 6 May presided over the last UNPOL Medal Parade under her tenure as Head of UNFICYP.

On 8 March 2016, the Russian flag was raised at UNFICYP HQ as the first ever Russian deployment commenced their duties with the Mission. The deployment includes three female police officers who will join UNFICYP's police component.
As a boy growing up in post-war Korea, I remember asking about a tradition I observed: women going into labour would leave their shoes at the threshold and then look back in fear. “They are wondering if they will ever step into those shoes again,” my mother explained.
With warm weather this week promising the start of a lovely spring in Cyprus, UNFICYP Sector 4 brought together some of the Mission’s best sportsmen and sportswomen to compete in a series of disciplines on 23 February.
The CMP Members visited Brussels from 16 to 18 February to meet with interlocutors at the European Parliament and the European Commission.
