On 17 September 2025, the UNRCCA Preventive Diplomacy Academy (PDA) hosted an online lecture on public speaking, delivered by Dr. Juan Belikow, an expert in public policy, governance, and security. The session aimed to strengthen the communication skills of emerging leaders from Central Asia and Afghanistan, preparing them for future roles in diplomacy and public service.
Dr. Belikow shared practical strategies for addressing common challenges and methods for preparing effective speeches. Participants received guidance on developing clear presentations and delivering them with confidence. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, during which Dr. Belikow responded to questions from participants and the PDA team.
Public speaking is a fundamental skill for aspiring diplomats and political scientists, allowing them to articulate key messages, negotiate effectively, defend their positions, and adapt communication styles to diverse audiences. Strengthening these skills contributes directly to diplomacy’s core mission: promoting cooperation, resolving conflicts, and fostering mutual understanding among nations.
