UNFICYP delivers humanitarian supplies to Maronite communities

On 26 April 2016, UNFICYP made its regular delivery of humanitarian supplies from the Republic of Cyprus to the Maronite communities of Kormakitis and neighbouring villages.

The fortnightly deliveries, coordinated by UNFICYP’s Civil Affairs Section, involve collaboration between the mission’s civilian, military and police components working together to support the island’s communities, and have been ongoing since 1974.

In addition to support for Maronite communities, UNFICYP also periodically visits Turkish Cypriots living in the south, helping address housing, welfare, education and other issues affecting them.
